Josef Mazan is a holder of a Ph.D. degree from Academy of Performing Arts, Prague. He studied the guitar doctoral program with prof. Stepan Rak. Josef Mazan has performed recitals in many countries of Europe and Asia. From 2004 he is being invited to Japan. Mazan records for Czech label VIXEN:  Contemporary Czech Guitar 1 (2016),  Contemporary Czech Guitar 2  (2017), Paganini: Guitar Sonatas  (2002). In 2014, a new album Solo for the guitar: Milan Zelenka, Josef Mazan, Pavel Steidl  was published by Czech Radio. Mazan won a prize at the Yamaha Scholarship Competition (Prague 1998), in 2001-2003 he was awarded with a Czech Music Fund scholarship.
